Senior official statistics expert with over 20 years of experience supporting National Statistical Offices across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Background
Vladan Božanić is the founder and principal expert of EnStatX. He is a senior official statistics expert and team leader with over 20 years of experience in social and economic statistics, combining deep methodological expertise with hands-on leadership of large-scale modernization programmes.
His career began at the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS), where he rose to become Director of Labour Market Statistics Department — overseeing the Labour Force Survey, Household Budget Survey, ICT Survey, and Living Standards Measurement Survey. In this role he built and led multidisciplinary teams of statisticians, methodologists, and IT specialists, and was responsible for end-to-end GSBPM-based statistical production.
Since transitioning to international consulting, Vladan has delivered technical assistance assignments for the European Commission, ILO, World Bank, EBRD, and ETF, supporting NSOs across the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
His most recent assignments include supporting a National Vision 2030 statistical modernization initiative in the Middle East — deploying AI/ML solutions, building a Population and Dwelling Register, and integrating administrative data sources — and leading the Continuous Population Survey redesign at Statistics South Africa, developing a census- and register-based sampling frame aligned with GSBPM.
He holds a graduate degree in Organizational Sciences (Management, field statistics) from the University of Belgrade, equivalent to MSc level, and is a member of the Statistical Society of Serbia and a former member of the LIS ASBL International Board of Directors (Luxembourg).
